Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday – Friday, with extended/ flexible hours at times to accommodate U.S. time and early morning/late evening events/meetingsÌý

What You Can Expect

In this role of Policy Manager you will become part of the most prominent transatlantic trade organisation and a tight-knit team who are committed to ÐßÐßÊÓÆµâ€™s (ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ) mission, our work and colleagues. Your primary role is to help shape, implement, and grow ÐßÐßÊÓÆµâ€™s wider policy portfolio, ; with you being a local contact for ÐßÐßÊÓÆµâ€™s policy work and ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ team based in the UK. This means you will:ÌýÌý

    • take the lead on ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ workstreams, specifically financial & professional services and energy & sustainability.Ìý
    • maintain and grow an engaged and active group or members and stakeholders around your assigned portfolios.Ìý
    • develop and execute behind annual Sub-Committee workplans, with tangible products and activities that showcase advocacy success and deliver behind the ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ Policy Agenda.Ìý
    • monitor relevant policy developments in both the UK and the US and make informed decisions about where and when ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ can and should engage.ÌýÌý
    • take a proactive role in engaging with member companies engaged in our policy work; and support the membership team on the retention and recruitment of relevant and future member companies.Ìý
    • prepare briefing/white papers, statements, updates, and submissions.Ìý
    • develop, prepare, deliver and host policy briefings and meetings for your assigned Sub-Committees,Ìý -virtual and in-person-;ÌýÌý
    • Grow and engage with a list of stakeholders from Government and Parliament to achieve policy objectives.ÌýÌý
    • Ìýlead on specific projects; including the annual ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ / Bain & Company Transatlantic Confidence IndexÌý
    • help expand our network of external stakeholders; andÌýÌý
    • represent ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ at external events and working groups.ÌýÌý

You will report into the Chief Trade & Policy Officer, based in Washington DC, with a dotted line to the Executive Director, London.ÌýÌý

About You

This role is ideally suited for a candidate who has tangible experience in government and external relations and who has a vital interest in international trade, business, and the transatlantic corridor.ÌýÌý

You should bring a good understanding of the interplay between governments and key stakeholders; related prior experience such as in a government office, advisory firm, think tank, or a trade/business association would be a plus. Most importantly you should have a keen interest in transatlantic policy issues, be passionate about shaping policy, and be excited, curious, and proactive in helping us to make ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ a visible and relevant organisation in the field of policy and trade. Pre-existing knowledge and interest in financial & professional services and energy & sustainability issues is a plus.ÌýÌý

To be successful in the role you should possess a variety of skills ranging from being able to conduct concise research independently, drafting policy texts in all forms at speed, planning and delivering policy briefings and meetings in a confident and structured manner, as well as liaising with internal team colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels.Ìý

Educational and Experience Requirements:Ìý

    • BA degree in a related field. An MA degree is a plus.Ìý
    • At least 3+ years of previous professional experience in a related field such as Government, trade/business association, think tanks, business consultancy, Parliament/Congress. To note: Candidates with less professional experience but strong profile are still encouraged to apply and may be considered for a different role.ÌýÌý
