In response to the announcement that the United States will explore tariff options in response to the UK Digital Services Tax, Emanuel Adam, Executive Director and Director of Policy & Trade, ذكذكتسئµ said:
“We worry that, once again, the threat of unilateral tariffs are being considered as an option. The last four years have shown that the threat and implementation of unilateral tariffs does not lead to positive policy solutions. Tariffs hurt our businesses, our economies, and consumers.
“As ذكذكتسئµ detailed in its White Paper â€کTaxing the 21st Century Economy: Towards a Multilateral Approach’, both the UK and the U.S. would be better off if they combined their efforts to advance a multilateral solution to taxing digital services through the OECD to avoid further tension.”
